Elizabeth Ann Macgregor was brought up in the Orkney Islands of Scotland. She completed an MA in the History of Art (Hons) at Edinburgh University and a Diploma in Museum and Gallery Studies at Manchester University. Her first job was curator/driver of the Scottish Arts Council's Traveling Gallery. This experience fired her commitment to engaging new audiences with the work of living artists. After ten years as Director of Ikon Gallery in inner city Birmingham, she took over the role of Director of the MCA in 1999. Since then the Museum has gone from strength to strength, with attendances increasing threefold to over 420,000. In 2007, the MCA was named Sydney's favourite museum in the annual Chamber of Commerce survey. She is passionate about the contribution that contemporary artists can make to society and has been involved in the launch of a ground breaking artists project in collaboration with Casula Powerhouse, Penrith Regional Gallery and the Penrith Panthers rugby league club.
David Marr is an Australian author and journalist. Marr graduated with an Arts/Law degree from the University of Sydney. Before turning to journalism, one of David's first jobs was working as articled clerk at law firm Allen, Allen and Hemsley. He has written for The Bulletin, the National Times and has worked as a reporter for the ABC TV program Four Corners, Media Watch and frequently appears on the Insiders program. A noted author, David, has written authoritative biographies of Garfield Barwick and Patrick White. David is currently a journalist with the Sydney Morning Herald.
Professor David Throsby is currently Chair, NSW Arts Advisory Council and member of the Experts Committee for drafting the UN Convention on Cultural Diversity (2003-04) UNESCO. David Throsby holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Sydney and a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics. He has been Professor of Economics at Macquarie University in Sydney since 1974. He has been a consultant to the World Bank, the OECD, FAO and UNESCO, as well as many government organizations. In 1990-1992 he chaired three of the Prime Minister's Working Groups on Ecologically Sustainable Development. Professor Throsby took part in the Prime Minister's Australia 2020 Summit and the Towards a Creative Australia panel.
