2008 Competition

Winner - Shafqat Inam

Shafqat Inam is a medical student at the University of New South Wales. He has completed laboratory research on skin cancer with the support of an AMA John G Hunter Fellowship. He is also interested in public health policy and disease prevention, and medicine in the developing world.

Runner up - Jeremy Burke

Currently based in London Jeremy is a Chartered Accountant working within the environmental services sector. Jeremy volunteers with Sandbag Climate Campaign, which was established in 2008 and seeks to ensure that emissions trading is an effective and proactive mechanism supporting a move towards a low carbon economy. Jeremy is also a trustee with the Alternative Technology Association in Australia, who are Australia's leading not-for-profit organisation, promoting sustainable technology and practice.
